Since 2019, we have been awarding the FHF Bachelor Award in cooperation with the DHBW Ravensburg. Here, the three best bachelor theses in the field of tourism, hotel, and gastronomy are awarded.

What’s behind it? | Putting an end to the bad reputation

Poor pay and hard working hours: In Germany, the hospitality industry doesn’t exactly have the best reputation. The tourism, hotel and catering industries are particularly varied and full of opportunities. The result is a considerable shortage of skilled workers in Germany.

By presenting the Bachelor Award, the FHF would like to improve the attractiveness and image of the industry, counteract a shortage of skilled workers and raise its own profile. On the other hand, the academic achievement of the graduates of the program should be made visible and the current students should be motivated. The FHF Bachelor Award is endowed with a cup and prize money.

The selection of the award winners

The best final theses will be determined by a jury of experts from DHBW Ravensburg. This consists of faculty members from the program who evaluate all bachelor theses of a graduating class according to various criteria. This is not only about the final grade, but rather about the theoretical and empirical work as well as the current relevance of the topic for practice.

Dual bachelor studies: tourism, hotel business, gastronomy

The markets around tourism, hotel business and gastronomy are constantly growing and changing. In order to master these challenges, flexible junior staff with fresh ideas are needed. The dual study program at DHBW Ravensburg is divided into periods of presence at the university and practical experience at a partner company. This enables students to put what they have learned directly into practice and gain valuable professional experience.

The graduates’ fields of work are diverse: tour operators, hotel and restaurant industry, consulting service providers, tourist information, city marketing and many more.

There are few industries where you can get to know so many different people, areas and tasks. We therefore encourage everyone to try their hand at the hospitality industry!
