Wie und Was wir unterstützen wollen

In Tanzania, more than 80% of girls do not complete elementary school. Access to vocational training is also impossible for young people from the socially lower classes.
As a result of the prevailing inequalities and discrimination, girls have no perspectives of finding a regular job and leading an economically independent life. Girls as young as 15 are often forced into marriage to secure their future, as their chances of finding a job are very slim.

In 2015, a hotel management school for girls opened in the Moshi region. It is run by our regional partner, the More Than A Drop Foundation (MTADF). The school is working to significantly expand and improve vocational training opportunities in the Moshi region. The training center has its own hotel and a small restaurant.
The focus of the training is on personality development. The vocational center offers workshops to increase learning skills as well as to build the self-esteem of the participants. The adolescent girls must find the courage to resist forced marriage.
Our funding is used to create more equal rights for women in Tanzania and to improve the skills of the hospitality industry. The grant money goes towards the purchase of teaching materials, food for the schoolgirls, purchase of school uniforms, further training and salaries for the teachers and administrative costs.

Der Standort

Moshi is located in northeastern Tanzania on the southern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, near the border with Kenya. The city has about 184,000 inhabitants and is the capital of the Kilimanjaro region. Due to its proximity to the highest mountain in Africa, tourism is very important for Moshi. Numerous companies are located here, offering year-round tours to Kilimanjaro. The Kilimanjaro Marathon, which has been held since 2002, has further boosted tourism in Moshi.
