"Mozambique, the land of good people." This was the name given to Mozambique by the Portuguese, who colonized the Indian Ocean country from 1930 to 1975.
Despite intensive efforts to keep the number of coronavirus cases low in Mozambique, there is an upward trend in the number of infections. For this reason, head of state Filipe Nyusi extended the state of emergency on Sunday, June 28, 2020, for another 30 days - and for the third time in a row. It is valid now until 29 July 2020. In this way, the Mozambican president wants to avoid a new peak of the pandemic in his country to reduce the pressure on hospitals.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, all international flights to and from Cape Verde have been suspended to prevent the spread of the virus. At the same time, tourism has also come to a standstill. The first infection was registered on the island of Boa Vista. For this reason, all traffic routes to the rest of the country were closed until recently.
This news affects many tourists around the world, who learned about it surprisingly and unexpectedly. The travel company has flown to the Cape Verde Islands among many other destinations.
