OUR MISSION

Our responsibility for the next generation does not end with their graduation. After all, this is only the beginning of the educational biography. However, on our travels to developing countries, we have seen far too often how young adults are left alone after school. Disoriented.

It is a matter close to our hearts to give these people a perspective and to get them on their professional path in the hospitality industry. The diverse job profiles of the industry open up opportunities at all career levels. The internationality of the travel industry also creates points of contact with cultures from all over the world and contributes to greater tolerance and international understanding. That is why we also make sure that sustainable tourism is being taught.

In order to live up to this responsibility, a functioning foundation is essential. That is why we see it as our task not only to support individuals, but also to bring the teaching and research in the hotel, gastronomy and tourism sectors forward.

In particular, we would like to strengthen countries in which tourism creates many jobs, but where there is a lack of funds for solid vocational training.

We currently have projects in sub-Saharan Africa, on the Cape Verde Islands and in Germany.

OUR PRINCIPLES

Our work is rooted in our personal identification and solidarity with the tasks and goals of the Friedrich Hospitality Foundation. Values are not empty phrases for us. They are the principles by which we align our lives – carefully and consistently. Therefore, we pay close attention to the adherence to these values – by our employees, supporters and promoted alike.

Based on our mission and our values, we have formulated principles to which we commit ourselves. The ultimate goal is to maintain our common attitude at all levels and at all times, and to fill our mission with life. Our guiding principles accompany us in our daily work and should serve as an orientation for action.

OUR PROMISE

Most of our funds come from private funds and cooperation partners. State subsidies are only minor. This will keep our political independence. Each individual contribution from private individuals and companies is therefore extremely valuable to us – every small donation is followed by a big impact!

Your contribution is also a great vote of confidence for us, which we greatly appreciate. We take the associated responsibility very seriously and commit ourselves to a careful, safe and meaningful handling of the funding.

The social vulnerability of people and the appropriateness of projects are checked before acceptance under strict conditions, so that our help actually reaches those who need it. Its own internal controlling monitors the use of funds and the selection of the projects. A project report will be prepared at least every six months via already existing funded projects. Only after thorough review of these reports will further funding be made available to continue the project. In addition, each year we undergo a voluntary audit by an independent auditor and disclose our donations and their use in the annual report.

OUR RELIABILITY

Many people rely on us: people who can build a better future with our help, and people who make it possible for us by providing funding. Everyone has a right to know who benefits, how they are shared and used. They rely on sustainable use and an impact that lasts. We are very proud of the trust placed in us and treasure it.

For this reason, transparency, efficient spending and the lowest possible administrative costs are our top priorities. In addition to the above-mentioned testing mechanisms, we keep in constant contact with our project partners and fellows in order to stay up-to-date. In this way, we can also react in the short term and make informed decisions. The proximity to the persons involved is particularly important to us, because only then can we be sure that our work arrives and works. In discussions with affected persons, co-operation partners, politics, economy and natives we find out, which needs are present and which concrete goals can be implemented. We also go hand in hand with other nonprofit organizations to create synergies. That is why our contact persons are always available to answer questions directly and without any hierarchical hurdles.

EXECUTIVE BOARD

Our executive board leads the non-profit organization in the sense of our mission and determines the organizational structure. As the decision-maker, it defines the strategy, selects funding projects, manages the assets and approves the budget. It is also responsible for the preparation of the annual report and financial statements and receives the reports of the independent auditor. In addition, the executive board represents the non-profit organisation externally.

Michael Friedrich is the founder and managing director of the Friedrich Hospitality Foundation. In this function, he ensures that the mission and purpose of the non-profit organization are always adhered to. As a hotelier with heart and soul and as a successful entrepreneur, he has all the prerequisites to manage the Friedrich Hospitality Foundation professionally and efficiently. At the same time, he always retains the humanity that characterizes hospitality and drives our non-profit organization.
