On 29.01.2022, together with the DHBW Ravensburg, we presented the Original Dual award and the FHF Bachelor Award to the best Bachelor theses of graduates of the study program "Business Administration - Hotel, Catering, Tourism" at the DHBW Ravensburg for the third time.
Award for the best bachelor theses of the DHBW Ravensburg
With prize money of 500,00 €, a cup, and a certificate, the scientific and academic achievements of the award winners from the study program Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy are honored. The attractive award is designed to inspire young people to enter the hospitality industry.
Which Bachelor thesis is declared as the winner will be determined by a jury of experts consisting of teachers from Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) Ravensburg. They do not only focus on the final grade in their evaluation. Theoretical and empirical performance as well as the current relevance of the topic for practice also play a decisive role.
The three award winners were honored for their achievements on the following topics:
- Katrin Heß: Internal Employer Branding at Aldiana GmbH: An As-Is Analysis to Derive Recommendations for Action for the Conceptual Design of the Internal Employer Branding Process.
- Lisa Cronau: Analysis of the market segment individual travelers based on the persona concept at Hotel Die Sonne Frankenberg.
- Selina Müller: The Influence of Workplace Health Management on Employee Motivation – An Analysis of the Previous Implementation of Workplace Health Management at the City of Ravensburg.
Digital exchange at the alumni forum
This year’s award winners were announced at the DHBW Ravensburg alumni forum. Unlike in previous years, the event took place completely digitally. Former students of the DHBW Ravensburg reported on their experiences of their tourism, hotel business, and gastronomy studies and gave tips and insights for their professional life.
The positions of this year’s speakers also show how versatile and international jobs can be after a degree in the hospitality industry: A CSR manager who is responsible for sustainability in a hotel in the Black Forest and thus ensures that the destination remains attractive and close to nature will have her say, as will a senior manager who is responsible for hotel openings on a large scale globally. But the spectrum of the hospitality industry’s activities does not only refer to hotels. This was reported by a Sales & Tourism Manager of a large shopping complex that offers a shopping experience to guests from Russia and the Gulf States, and a manager who oversees the opening of famous leisure facilities around the world.
Exciting field reports dispel clichés
For many people, the hospitality industry has a bad image. Working hours on weekends and holidays as well as in the evenings often already scare off potential applicants without them really knowing anything about the industry. As a result, many miss out on the varied and opportunity-filled jobs in the hospitality industry.
The presentation of the FHF Bachelor Award is meant to act against this cliché and thus also indirectly counteract the existing shortage of skilled workers. The alumni forum with alumni testimonials and the award provide an exciting perspective on hospitality issues and bring attention to topics that one would not have immediately attributed to the hospitality industry-
